Rajasthan police works in partnership with the community to protect life and property, prevent crime and disorder, detect and apprehend offenders and preserve a sense of security in the society.
History of Rajasthan Police
Rajasthan was formed by the merger of many princely states. On 31st March 1949, the then home Minister of India Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel inaugurated Rajasthan state. But complete Rajasthan state came up in 1956 when all princely states added up to take a shape of present Rajasthan. To maintain law and order of such a big state, police forces of the princely states merge to form Rajasthan Police.
In the starting years, the Rajasthan police got its first IG Shri. R.Banerji on 7th April, 1949. At that time Rajasthan Police was headed by officers on deputation. Rajasthan Police Service was formed in January 1951 and eligible officers from all over the State were appointed.
With a disciplined growth over the years, Rajasthan Police excel in organisation, equipment, operational techniques, attitude and outlook.
